What is the legal tyre tread depth?

The legal tyre tread depth for cars in the UK is 1.6mm across the central three quarters of the tyre. Although a minimum tread depth of 3mm is recommended to then replace your tyres.

It is so important to check your tyres regularly, not only and most importantly because of the safety risks involved but also you could risk points on your licence and a fine.
